Title: Chemical firms to get safety award
Synopsis: Jakarta – National Committee Responsible Care Indonesia (KN-RCI) will recognize local chemical companies which implement proper safety procedures as part of international campaign to promote work safety in chemical industry. Frank Moniaga, the Chairman of KN-RCI said Friday that to be recognized companies had to successfully complete a semen-month assessment process. This will be the second time the committee has recognized companies. In 2004, it presented certificates to seven firms: PT BASF Indonesia, PT Mitsubishi Chemical Indonesia, PT Bayer Indonesia, PT DOW Chemical Indonesia, PT DuPont Indonesia, PT ICI Paints Indonesia, and PT Pupuk Sriwijaya. Title: Responsible Care Award for Chemical Industry
Synopsis: National Committee for Responsible Care Indonesia (KN-RCI) for the second time will grant Responsible Care Award 2007 for chemical industry of KN-RCI member which has succeeded implementing ethic standard and best practice. KN-RCI chairman Frank Moniaga, said the award is as a real appreciation from KN-RCI for the awareness and care in implementing business ethic standard, although some obstacles in implementing the business ethic standard are still faced in practice. Title: Working ethic standard called for
Synopsis: Jakarta – The government has urged the domestic chemical industry to obey working ethic standards to minimize field risks because chemical industry is very vulnerable to working with accidents such as fire, explosions, toxic, pollution and illness caused by the working environment. The efforts are also conducted through seminars and workshops to encourage chemical companies to increase their awareness on risks anticipations efforts in working environment. KN-RCI chairman Frank Moniaga who also presented said KN-RCI would continue to disseminate and implement its code of management practices to its members in which the code of management practices also included responsible care standard. Meanwhile, in order to press down occurrence of accidents and to minimize its negative impacts on workers’ safety, DuPont Indonesia introduced thermal protective garment of DuPont Nomex. “Along with the increasing awareness in society on the importance of safety factor in industrial sector, the need for safety apparel becomes compulsory,” said George Hadi Santoso, Country Managing Director DuPont Indonesia. Title: Indonesian chemical industry neglects work safety
Synopsis: The level of work accident in chemical industry nowadays remains high. According to Head of Presidium National Committee for Responsible Care Indonesia (KN-RCI), Frank Moniaga, 96% cause of work accidents were human errors. Chemical Industry in Indonesia seems do not care about work safety to avoid cost increase. Whereas in fact, said Frank, work safety application is basically as long term-investment. “If the factory gets on fire, the cost will be much bigger,” Frank said.
